Proton OnSite proudly participated in an International Energy Agency (IEA) Hydrogen Implementing Agreement (HIA) task meeting titled, “Task 33: Local Supply of Hydrogen for Energy Applications.” IEA-HIA is a unique leader in the management of coordinated hydrogen research, development and demonstration activities on a global basis. The meeting took place in Paris, France, and was hosted by ENGIE .
Aimed to identify and provide an unbiased evaluation of various pathways for local hydrogen supply for energy applications, Task 33 consisted of an 18 member team of professionals, representing 17 different organizations with vast experience in the field of hydrogen. Featuring a variety of knowledge from across the globe, representatives from government, academia and industry in over 12 countries attended. Some of the countries include; Norway, France, Germany, U.S., Belgium, Sweden, Denmark, The Netherlands, and Japan.
Task 33 is organized in three subtasks. Pleased to hold a leadership role at the meeting, Proton OnSite’s Everett Anderson, Vice President of Business Development, led “Subtask 1.” Anderson was essentially responsible for assessing the levels of technological and economic on-site hydrogen supply availability. Further, this subtask evaluated system design (containerization, modularization, etc.), operation (compressor challenges etc.), costs (CAPEX and OPEX), and proposed cost reduction solutions (standardization, mass manufacturing of systems and units, outsourcing, etc.).
The meeting was not strictly all work and no play- attendees were able to ride to-and-from the meeting each day in a fleet of Hyundai ix35 FCEV’s that operate as a public taxi service in Paris. There are a total of 5 vehicles running under theHYPE program that chauffeured the participants to their destinations.
