Biden was appearing on State of the Union hosted by Tapper when the exchange ocurred.

Rather than press Biden on the issue, which would have been hard to defend, Tapper moved on to the issue of an orderly transition of power should Trump lose.

But Joe Biden has a long history of gaffes, including one on a recent campaign stop when he was talking about COVID-19.

“If Donald Trump has his way, the complications from COVID-19, which are well beyond what they should be — it’s estimated that 200 million people have died — probably by the time I finish this talk,” Biden said.
